Description
Evangelion

Front cover: Christ αναστασις "standing up", resurrected in a mandorla with Adam and Eve resurrected beneath him and saints bordering the scene. An ornamental bead and reel motif serves as a framing device. Symbols of the evangelists adorn the quadrants the book cover. In the upper most lintel is the Ascension of Christ. In the lower most lintel are figures holding a scroll.

Back cover: The Transfiguration occupies the central panel of the book cover and is framed by a beed-and-reel ornamental border. Saints in roundels with flowers occupy the verticals and are topped with an archangel on each side. The top lintel depicts Moses(?) before the Virgin as the Burning Bush and St. Catherine. In a roundel at the bottom of the book cover are astrological symbols of an ox or bull's head with an astral symbol in between the horns, bones (?), the sun, and moon.
