Embroidery, 2 pieces
Images 1 & 2: The Angel Gabriel is shown at the center of the textile, gesturing and advancing to the right. His hair is formed of brown coils that seem to flow, at least partially, down his neck. His eyes are asymmetrical with one being more elliptical in shape with a slight flare to proper right and the other being circular. His lips are slightly pursed and are of the same rusty red color as his outline, staff, and the flowers on vines that flank him. He wears a pair of green boots. A solid horizontal line with thorns (?) breaks up the the laissez-faire movement of the vines. Gabriel's monograph (ΟΑΡΧΩΝΓΑΒΡΙΗ) appears directly above him, in a top lintel. The textile weaver has used a lowercase omega in the monogram instead of an uppercase one.
Images 3 & 4: Mary is seated with her head turned to the left in a setting that is nearly identical to images one and two. Her robe is outlined in a powder blue thread that is similar, if not the same color as the egg-shaped flower that blooms on a vine to her proper left. She appears to be spinning or working with thread in some capacity. The monogram of Mary as the mother god appears on either side of her halo (ΜΡ ΘΝ). Above her is the greek word evangelism (Ευαγγελισμο[ς])
