Description: Embroidery with saints in each arm of the Greek style cross and the Transfiguration as the central scene. The Transfiguration: the moment in the gospels where the Divinity of Christ was confirmed (Matt. 17:1-13; Mark 9:2-13; Luke 9:28-36). Jesus took Peter, James, and John with him to a mountain and upon that mount was transfigured. In the scene here Christ is in this transfigured state, cased in a mandorla, and accompanied the Old Testament prophets Elijah and Moses at his sides and Peter, James, and John below him.
