Description
-
Embroidery with saints in each arm of the Greek style cross and the Pentecost as the central scene. The Pentecost (Acts 2: 1-12): commemorated the Giving of the Law to to Moses upon Mt. Sinai (Murray 1996, 380). While all the disciples gathered to celebrate the feat day, the Holy Sprit descended upon them, as promised by Jesus, and they began to all speak in foreign tongues. Here, the disciples sit in a semi-circle, some holding books more prominently than others. From above, rays descend onto them and in a niche beneath them is St. Paul (?).
